Mobile Networks
Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) is a second generation digital standard for mobile telephony using several frequency bands such as 900 and 1800 MHz.Nowadays the main mobile system in terms of number of users, the European standard has a strong presence in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and also on the American continent. Composed of fixed transmitters (relay antennas) and mobile receivers (telephones), it is accessible by 80% of the population and covers approximately 50% of French territory.
GSM network is ideal for “voice” type communications. It comes with a SIM card (Subscriber Identity Module), a tool that personalizes communications, and a PIN code (Personal Identification Number), which is essential for using the SIM card on the GSM network.
Mobile Network are relying on three main technologies :
2G / GSM :

Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) , known also as 2G for Second generation. Its maximum broadband speed does not overpass 200 Kb.s. – 2G networks have also been using GPRS technologies which prefigures full IP transmission.

Mobile Networks
In early 2010’s , Universal Mobile Telecommunication System, – the 3rd Generation (3G) is a set of new technologies and standards. The minimal transfer rate is at 144 Kbps for fast moving devices – 384 at walk pace ,while fixed communications goes beyond 2 Mbps. 3G networks are still covering a large part of our countries and are used as 4G fallback solution.

Long Term Evolution (4G/4G+) are a evolution of UMTS standards :
– A theoretical downlink of more than 300 Mbp/s,
– A good mobile internet connection for very fast pace (more than 200 Km/h).
Il also enables the apparition of new standards, such as Voice Over LTE with native IP embedded.

5G :
Mobile Networks
5G Networks are a brand new system that is not an evolution of former technologies. 5G will not only connect Smartphones to a Base station, but will also support all IOT features.
One network for multiple use :
– IOT;
– High data speed,
– Smartgrid.
